The Jews of the Comtat Venaissin were distinctive for using a liturgy based on the old Provençal rite. This finely executed liturgical manuscript from the Provençal rite (Avignon, Carpentras, etc.) contains ashmurot for the different days of the week, beginning with Rosh ha-Shanah and continuing for the ten Days of Awe. Leaf 74 (verso) has a full censor’s statement. Leaves 1-2, 26, and 75-82 are in a different hand and appear to have been added later in the late 18th or early 19th century in an attempt to complete the liturgical cycle.
