This handsome mid-eighteenth-century German Haggadah features 16 remarkable large and brightly colored illustrations. Some of the images represent scenes not commonly found in illuminated Haggadahs (including Habakkuk’s provision of food for Daniel in the lion’s den for the poem “And It Came to Pass at Midnight”). The songs at the end of the Haggadah are also rendered in Yiddish in Ashkenazi semi-cursive script. The manuscript is bound in contemporary painted-parchment binding.
