    Description:
ink on parchment, 102 leaves (16 x 11.5 cm.); Italo-Sephardi and Sephardi square Hebrew characters

    Subject:
    Liturgy; Haggadah

This Sephardi liturgy begins with a mealtime prayer followed by Psalm 23 and the Birkat ha-Mazon. The text includes piyyutim (13v-), a Haggadah (26r-), prayers for festivals and Rosh ha-Shanah (66r-), and a collection of other prayers. The marginalia added later in an Italian had include Psalms, Proverbs, Job, and the Five Scrolls (1r-) as well as Jehoseph ben Hanan ben Nathan Ezobi’s hortatory poem “Ḳeʻarat Kesef” (99r-).

The manuscript features a lattice frame around the title page and an empty heraldic shield on its verso as well as a few decorations throughout. The book seems to have been taken out of Spain after the expulsion, with the Italian portions added later.

Digitization of this manuscript was made possible through the generosity the Hornik Family Foundation.
