Jacob ben Joseph Conegliano
This richly illuminated Haggadah, with a Hebrew commentary, was copied and illustrated by Jacob ben Joseph of the Conegliano family whose sciurid crest (an august squirrel seated on a tallit) adorns the title page. Conegliano evidently used the Prague (1526), Mantua (1560), and Venice (1609) Haggadot as models for his delightful naïve folk-art renditions.
Hebrew / Paper / 31,2 x 18,7 cm. / ff. of which only the first 17 ff. are written upon / Neat Sephardic cursive writing (autogr.) with annotations in the margins in the same handwriting / No title.
