The Jews of the Comtat Venaissin were distinctive for using a liturgy based on the old Provençal rite. This liturgical manuscript from the Provençal rite (Avignon, Carpentras, etc.) is a collection in at least two different hands and contains 64 liturgical poems for (a) the Ninth of Av, (b) the Fast of Gedaliah, (c) the Tenth of Tevet, (d) the Seventeenth of Tammuz, and (e) the eve of the Ninth of Av. There are some emendations and additions in another hand at various points in the text, some in Provençal.
